http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_pass_accident
The Dyatlov Pass incident refers to an event that resulted in the deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on the night of February 2, 1959. Investigators at the time determined that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot in heavy snow. Though the corpses showed no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue.[
Cracked.com made this incident sound less freaky. A lot less freaky. I'd suggest reading it too.

Herman Webster Mudgett, better known under the alias of Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, was one of the first documented American serial killers in the modern sense of the term. In Chicago at the time of the 1893 World's Fair, Holmes opened a hotel which he had designed and built for himself specifically with murder in mind, and which was the location of many of his murders. While he confessed to 27 murders, of which four were confirmed, his actual body count could be as high as 200.

3- Göbekli Tepe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6bekli_Tepe
Göbekli Tepe is the oldest man-made religious structure yet discovered. The site, currently undergoing excavation by German and Turkish archaeologists, was most likely erected by hunter-gatherers in the 9th millennium BCE (c. 11,000 years ago). Until excavations began, a complex on this scale was not thought possible for a community so ancient, and with such primitive quarrying tools. The massive sequence of stratification layers suggests several millennia of activity, perhaps reaching back to the Mesolithic.

5- Tanganyika Laughter Epidemic
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanganyika_Laughter_Epidemic
Whew, pretty strange one if I do say so myself. Three girls started laughing at school. Eventually all the kids were, and the school actually shut down. Then it hit the village they lived in and spread. Uncontrollable laughing.
The following symptoms were reported on an equally massive scale as the reports of the laughter itself: pain, fainting, respiratory problems, rashes, attacks of crying, random screaming. In total 14 schools were shut down and 1000 people were affected.

6- Mad Gasser of Mattoon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mad_Gasser_of_Mattoon
The Mad Gasser of Mattoon was the name given to the person or people believed to be responsible for a series of apparent gas attacks that occurred in Botetourt County, Virginia, during the early 1930s, and in Mattoon, Illinois, during the mid-1940s.
Whether the attacks were anything more than a case of mass hysteria, if the individual reports were connected, and the ultimate explanation for the events all remain debated.
